A good marketing research should have following characteristics:
- Application of scientific method for collection analysis and interpretation of data should be there.
- It should suggest suitable measures to minimise or avoid the problems.
- It should create additional facts or develop the innovative ways to solve the problems.
- The cost of marketing research must not exceed the benefits derived out of the findings.
- A good marketing research should supply statistical methods and modes to derive fruitful and purposive research.
- A good marketing research finds out several alternative courses of action, out of which the best course of action is applied to attain the target.
- Sound marketing research uses the services of specialist, who may be from within the organisation or outside the organisation.
- A good marketing researcher avoids own bias in interpreting the data and should never ask for irrelevant information.
